They were pretty stable as of 0.5 alpha 2.  In the alpha 3 release cycle 
they're a bit in flux again.  (See CHANGES.txt.)  The changes I planned for 
alpha 3 are pretty much done, though, so things should be largely stable 
except for fixing any bugs that came about from the changes.
